He Ping Ri Bao (8/20) — On August 19, 2020, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Spokesperson, Zhao Lijian held a regular press conference. Xinhua News Agency reporter asked: Can you brief us on the arrangements for Foreign Affairs Minister, Retno Marsudi’s visit and China’s expectations? How does China view the current relationship between China and Indonesia?
Zhao Lijian said, Foreign Affairs Minister, Retno Marsudi is the first foreign minister of Indonesia who authorized for position in the context of normalization of epidemic prevention and control, and is showing that China and Indonesia attach great importance to bilateral relations. During her visit to China, State Chancellor and Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi will hold talks with her. The two parties will be put up with in-depth exchanges on bilateral relations, anti-epidemic cooperation, and the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”. There will also be an in-depth exchange of views on China-ASEAN relations, along with international and regional issues of common concern. China and Indonesia are important neighbours to each other and are both large developing countries with extensive common and multi-beneficial interests, and also natural co-work partners. Under the strategic guidance of the two leaders of both country, China-Indonesia relations have developed rapidly. Particularly, the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” cooperation has achieved remarkable results, and landmark projects such as the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, the “Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor” and another significant large projects have been progressing steadily.
High-level officials of the two countries have been on callings on many occasions, since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The governments, militaries, local governments and people of the two countries have watched and helped each other to fight the epidemic together, that showing a kind of brotherly friendship.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia, and bilateral relations of both countries are facing new development opportunities. China is willing to work together with Indonesia to implement the consensus from the two heads of the countries, in order to fight and cope with the pandemic and becoming the two main lines of development, to deepen mutual trust and cooperation, to uphold multilateralism and international justice, to promote greater development of China-Indonesia sustainable relations and to benefit the two countries and its’ regional people better.
